Bikepacking – What I Packed

I have had a lot of people ask what I brought with me on my bikepacking trip so I figured I’d put together a quick list.  The following items are what my nephew and I brought for our overnight trip.

I have the Ortlieb back roller classic panniers, the rack pack (size Medium) and a Green Guru handlebar bag.

In the back right pannier I packed:

  • 50* sleeping bag
  • Big Agnes Q-Core sleeping pad
  • sea to summit inflatable pillow
  • flip flops and plastic bag to stick them in
  • kindle
  • clothes to sleep in
  • long sleeve shirt
  • change of shirt for the ride back
Gizmo the cat not included

In the back left pannier (my nephews things – not pictured):

  • 30* sleeping bag
  • camp pillow
  • sheet to use in case the sleeping bag was too hot
  • clothes for the next day
  • clothes to sleep in
  • book
  • food bag – Mac&cheese, PBJ, chips, pesto pasta (for me), oatmeal x 2, hot cocoa packets x 2, bananas x 2, a few granola bars, Gatorade powder packets, lighter, a few paper towels, rope to hang the bag from a tree (to protect it from nosy animals), plastic bag for the trash

In the Rack Pack I had:

  • Marmot Limelight 3P tent, rainfly, footprint, stakes, and poles
  • toiletries bag – toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, deodorant, hand wipes
  • headlamp
  • lantern
  • Coleman magnetic lamp that attaches to the top of the tent
  • bike tire pump
  • cards – Uno and Spot It
  • GSI dualist with only 1 bowl/mug set, fuel, pocket rocket stove, tiny sponge and dish soap
  • bike lock and key

Attached on the outside of the rack pack –

  • Spot GPS
  • collapsible tripod
  • thermarest self inflating sleeping pad for my nephew (not pictured)
  • helmet – well I wore this

In my handlebar bag I packed extra waters, snacks for the day, first aid kit, bug spray, and my wallet.

I think that’s it!  I hope this helps you if you go bikepacking!
